I had a rough time early last year, I lost my job as Public Relation personnel, and the excuse given to me was ‘Lack of funds’. I cried, and thought to myself ‘why did you leave Port Harcourt, is this what you left the comfort of your parent’s home for? is this what you get for studying hard and putting in your best?, Are you not good enough? All these were thoughts in my head and I just couldn’t stop myself from slipping into depression. Every time a friend tells me he/she got a job, I rejoice with them outwardly, but in my heart I was shedding tears. Every night I cried myself to sleep, wondering when I’d also tell others my own success story.

Then one day, I stumbled on this quote ‘’the path you are on now is rough; don’t confuse it with your destination. Though it is stormy right now, there’s a light at the end of that road’’, and everything about my mode of thinking changed, I became more focused, I decided to mold myself, build myself, used the time of my challenge to make something meaningful out of my life. I adopted this quote as my personal motto and made it a daily confession.

One day out of the blue, I got a call saying I’ve been shortlisted for an interview and I went, passed and was given the job. We were four (4) applicants and I was the only one taken. I couldn’t hide my joy. And it’s been a year and I’m still here.

Motivational quotes are not meant to hide your challenges, they are meant to give you hope, something to look forward to, something to hold on to. The light at the end of that dark tunnel, something that will make you smile all day despite all your worries and woes.

Leslie Grossman said ‘’When you’re feeling your worst, that’s when you get to know yourself the best.’’ Take the time out to study yourself when you are down, build yourself, work on your weaknesses, develop the will power to face your challenges and dig out the opportunities embedded in them. Don’t give up; your light is just ahead of you. Hold on a while longer and you will be amazed at how strong you are. You are better and stronger than you think you are. Don’t Give Up.
